Song Fang Q & A on "Memories Look At Me" (+ take-aways)

-   There was a written script. She worte the dialogue based on her experiences, things heard and seen, and memories.

- Her family acted in other of her films, so she knew how they would play.

- Use 1 camera for most scenes. Used only one or two angles, but took her time to find the best angle.

- She treats the film as a fiction - never thought about it as a documentary. Wrote the charcters based on real people.

- During shooting didn't ask actors to remember dialogue line by line, but allowed them to improvise.

- Says documentary is a recording of something actually happening, but she tried to re-create the past.

- Film represents moments which moments which touched her.

- Desired to create memory.

- They recorded ambient sounds in the flat, then tried to re-create sounds she remembers hearing from home.

- To represent memories, she did not want to use images, but conversations.
